Back to School

It’s back to school time and the month of September is almost over. Being a mother of a high schooler now, is exciting but there are some things that I had to adjust to. Well let me first start out by saying that I had no idea that book-picturefall sports tryouts start at the end of August. Yes, I kind of figured with football and lacrosse but I had no idea that volleyball would start early. Needless to say my daughter missed the try outs cause we were on vacation but thank goodness the coach let her still tryout and now she is on the volleyball team. One thing I do not care for is the practice times. They have night practice on certain days and I am just not feeling that. Practice from 6-8pm, that’s dinner time. I am glad that she is not on band because they are still practicing when we leave at 8-8:15pm. Waking up in the morning has been and adjustment as well since I have to wake up 20 minutes earlier than last year. It might not seem like a big deal, but for someone that has been waking up the same time for years and have to adjust to a new time, lets just say I already am not a morning person. There was no back to school supply list given before hand so I had to wait to buy school supplies since this year she gets a Chromebook to do all her work on and doesn’t need much supplies. It kind of saves me money but I still had to pay for the Chromebook, well at least rent it and when she gets to 12th grade I can buy it out. I like the fact that the students can have their phones with them at all times and some of the teachers let them use their phones in the classroom for school work if needed. My daughter texts me at lunch time which is my lunch time as well, so I get to check up on her which is good. I am sure there a plenty of other things that I am going to have to adjust to as the school year goes on and hopefully I can adjust to them as well.
