It’s Flu shot season
It’s about that time for everyone to get their flu shots. Now I know some people are against flu shots and I was before I started to work in the medical field over 10 years ago and it became mandatory for me. The only time I missed it was when the swain flu nasal mist came out. I can not take nasal sprays nor was I going to try. It was either I put my big girl panties on and do the mist or risk getting the flu, I chose risk getting the flu. Fortunately I did not get the flu or swain flu but one of my coworkers got the swain flu and she got her flu shot and the mist. That was scary but she was out of work for a week so she was not near me so I could catch it. I got my flu shot yesterday and my daughter got hers today. She was little upset because she thought she was getting the flu mist. It was a surprise to her that she had to get the flu shot. The CDC (Center of Disease Control and Prevention) advised that the flu mist should not be given the year of 2016-2017 due to it not being as effective as said to be in the past. For more information on it, go to the CDC website and read up on it. If you choose not get the flu shot just be careful and do lots of hand washing and try to avoid other people who are sick. As for people like me who jobs are on the line if you don’t get one, please get your flu shot and not lose your job over it. I am petrified of needles, my hands start sweating, my face gets red and my body gets hot but hell I need my job. The flu can be a nasty virus which will have you laying on the couch or in your bed for a week and in some cases will cause you to be hospitalized. I can’t be out of work sick so I say GIVE ME THE SHOT.
